Lunesta is a sleeping pill used for the treatment of sleep disorders such as sleeplessness. It affects chemicals in your brain that may be unbalanced in people with sleep problems (insomnia). Lunesta is used to treat insomnia. Lunesta causes relaxation to help you fall asleep and stay asleep.Use of this drug is usually limited to short treatment periods of 1 to 2 weeks or less. If insomnia persists for a long time, talk to your doctor to determine if other treatment is needed.Take this medicine by mouth as directed by your doctor, usually just before bedtime. Do not take with or immediately after high-fat or heavy meals. Otherwise, it may not be effective.
