H-1B: This visa allows professionals from Canada to accept employment in the U.S. with a U.S.-based company in industries such as information technology, engineering and healthcare. While Canadians do not need a visa to enter the U.S. for business or tourism, they must have an H-1B visa to be employed by an American company. The process involves getting a job offer from a U.S. employer, the employer filing an H-1B petition with USCIS, and being approved to work. Canadian citizens are exempted from visa stamping before the entry into the U.S. However, Canadian citizens do need to apply at a U.S. consulate.
