Epilepsy. The word itself can conjure up images of dramatic convulsions, but the reality is far more nuanced. It’s a neurological disorder defined by recurrent seizures – brief episodes of involuntary movement that can affect a part of the body (partial) or the whole body (generalized). It’s surprisingly common, striking people of all ages, backgrounds, and ethnicities. Despite its prevalence, epilepsy remains shrouded in mystery for many, leading to misconceptions and even stigma.
