Hypospadias is a congenital condition that affects male infants, characterized by an abnormality in the formation of the urethral opening. Typically, in a male, the urethral opening (meatus) is located at the tip of the penis. However, in hypospadias, the opening may be located along the underside of the penis, anywhere from the tip to the scrotum. This condition occurs during fetal development when the urethral tube, which is meant to extend from the bladder to the tip of the penis, fails to fully close during the early stages of pregnancy.
