About Liposuction Surgery
Liposuction is a surgical process which is aimed at removal of the subcutaneous fat deposits. The usual sites prone to such deposition include the upper arm area, buttocks, thighs, abdomen, mid back, knees and neck and in some males, around the breast region too. Liposuction can be performed individually or in combination with other surgical procedures such as tummy tuck in which case, the body contour starts showing immediately. Liposuction is usually very effective at removing fat deposits in small areas using suction. Some improvement in body contour is usually noticeable right after the surgery.
In recent years, improved techniques have made liposuction safer, easier, and less painful. Liposuction is a globally accepted medical practice. With the use of a tube and a vacuum device for suction, this is performed on the exercise resistant fat deposits in your body. Liposuction is commonly done at locations like chin, cheeks, neck, upper arms, above breasts, abdomen, buttocks, hips, thighs, knees, calves and ankles. Ultrasound assisted liposuction (UAL) is used for larger volumes of fat or for fibrous body areas. It generally takes a few hours to perform. Local, epidural general anesthesia may be used according to need during the procedure. There are some temporary side effects that may be seen post the procedure. Temporary bruising, swelling, numbness, soreness and burning sensations are the most common side effects reported so far.
Liposuction offers you the body you wanted with lesser pain or side effects. In tumescent technique, the targeted fat cells are infused with saline solution with local anaesthetic before actually performing the liposuction to reduce after effects like bruising and swelling. Liposuction should be done only by a doctor who has special training in liposuction and surgery of the skin and in how to respond to complications during surgery. Liposuction done by an experienced doctor in a properly equipped facility is usually safe. Liposuction should not be done to people who have severe heart problems, who have blood-clotting disorders (such as thrombophilia, a disorder in which the blood clots easily or excessively), or during pregnancy.
