Untight cables could cause your Mercedes ignition key to get stuck. This is a problem that can be resolved with simply tightening the cable that connects to the shifter.
The nut on the shifter end of the cable has to be tightened to ensure that there is no slack left in the cable. This is especially important if your Mercedes is in the park position. The shifter can move the cable by about 1/16 inch and could cause your replacement key mercedes to be stuck.
