Sublimation in chemistry is the process of converting a solid straight from its solid state into a gas. The compounds that come from this process are called sublimation products. Products made through sublimation include, for instance, mothballs, camphor, and dry ice (solid carbon dioxide) (both made of naphthalene). These compounds are helpful in a range of applications, including refrigeration, pest control, and medical usage, because they may be instantly transformed through sublimation from a solid to a gas.
