Opioid painkillers include tramadol. It is sold on the market under the trade name Ultram and aids in the relief of mild to moderately severe pain. But it also controls really painful conditions for which no other treatments are effective and which call for the use of an opioid analgesic. Along with oral tablets/capsules, liquid, and injection forms, it is also offered.
There is some evidence that it can be used as a secondary pain reliever for Fibromyalgia as a second-line treatment. Additionally, longer-acting formulations and combinations with acetaminophen (paracetamol) are offered. It is similarly strong as codeine and Pethidine at doses that are one tenth apart from morphine's potency.
