Alternately, they can be salvaged from items with upgrade components in them using an expert or greater salvage item upgrader kit.
The amount of damage an armored piece or weapon is able to absorb is dependent on the item level upgrade of its upgrades. The upgrade of an armor piece to its highest upgrade level will increase its ability to absorb damage.
