Item upgrading allows players to boost the gear score of an item upgrading up to 700 and item Upgrader mod also add an additional perk. Items can be upgraded if they are in your inventory and you take them to the Kiln.

A lot of weapons also come with a fixed bonus that is activated when three or more identical weapons are used in a unit. This bonus can sometimes be greater than the damage a weapon upgrade item can do on its own.
The cost of upgrading a weapon is based on the quality of the weapon and its current level.
